You can put this solution on YOUR website!

A store sells packages of comic books with a poster. A poster and 4 comics cost
$9.99.

p%2B4c=9.99

A poster and 12 comics cost $17.99.

p%2B12c=17.99

Solve the system:

system%28p%2B4c=9.99%2Cp%2B12c=17.99%29

Solve that system and get p = $5.99 and c = $1.00

So, a linear function rule that models the cost y of a package containing any
number x of comic books is

y%22%22=%22%22%221.00%22x%2B5.99 (You can omit the 1.00)

y%22%22=%22%22x%2B5.99

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Or you can just figure in your head that since 8 more comic books
costs $8 more, each comic book costs $1, so a poster is $4 less
than $9.99 or $5.99.

So y = 1x+5.99 or y = x+5.99
