Use the FOIL process: First, Outside, Inside, Last
Multiply the First terms. Then multiply the Outside terms, that is the first term in the first binomial and the second term in the second binomial. Then multiply the Inside terms, that is the second term in the first binomial times the first term in the second binomial. Then multiply the last terms. Then collect like terms as appropriate. Why do it in that order? Because LFOI doesn't spell anything, even though it would work just as well.
