Question 1154086: A linear function that represents the number of video games purchased at an electronics store is compared to a different linear function that represents the amount of money the store made that day. Describe the key features of the functions that are needed to determine if these lines intersect.
TO BE CLEAR: I'm not asking to derive/pull out an equation since there is obviously no numbers or information to do so, I needed to find out features like the slopes or y-intercepts. general stuff. according to user ikelyn(29756), this question does not make sense and says there should be a "penalty to the author of this question!" (even though she was the one to misinterpret it.) so I'm asking the same question and clarifying what I need so this incident doesn't repeat itself.
thanks so much!
Answer by ikleyn(52784) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
In order two straight lines in a coordinate plane intersect, they MUST have different slopes.
This condition is NECESSARY and SUFFICIENT.
It is me, @IKLEYN, who explains it to you.

And to be EVEN MORE CLEAR:
When and if you formulate your problem/question correctly, accurately ans adequately, then you will get
equally accurate and adequate answer.
If, in opposite, you formulate it as you did it in your original post, you will get the answer as in my previous post,
or will get no answer, at all.
The meaning of your request in the original post was as dark as midnight in the forest at no moon.
It became clear only after your explanation.
