Algebra ->  Linear-equations -> SOLUTION: 1. y - 7 = 3(x + 2) y+2=3(x-7) y-(-2)=3(x-(7)) y-y1=m(x-x1) y1=-2 x1=7 slope=m=3 (x1,y1) (7,-2) is my answer, but I need to see what this looks like in a graph. 2. I      Log On

Question 1152835: 1. y - 7 = 3(x + 2)
y+2=3(x-7)
y-(-2)=3(x-(7))
y-y1=m(x-x1)
y1=-2
x1=7
slope=m=3
(x1,y1)
(7,-2) is my answer, but I need to see what this looks like in a graph.
2. In the year 2001, there were 20 students per every computer. In 2008, there were 4 students per computer. Write two ordered pairs to represent the ratio of student to computer. (Let x equal the number of years since (x,y)=(year, ratio)
(2001,20) and (2008,4.5) is what I have - just need to check if this is correct.
3. Find the slope-intercept form of the equation that goes through these two points.
y=mx+b
m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = m=(4.5-20)/(2008-2001)=-2.214
20=-2.214*2001+b = b=4450.786
y=-2.214x+4450.786 is what I have - just need to check if this is correct.

4. Find the point-slope form of the equation that goes through these two points.
(y-y1)=m(x-x1)
(y-20)=-2.214(x-2001)
is what I have - just need to check if this is correct.
Thank you
