You could start from definition for slope of a line.

That is, for two points (x,y) and (-1,-5), vertical change divided by horizontal change is supposed to be 9.
%28y-%28-5%29%29%2F%28x-%28-1%29%29=9
Now put this into the form that you need.

Do you understand THIS? highlight_green%28highlight_green%28%28y-%28-5%29%29%2F%28x-%28-1%29%29=9%29%29
If you do, then simplify it and put it into the form that you need!! Simple Algebra.

y + 5 = 9(x + 1)

y + 5 = 9x + 9
