Question 1077661: William is designing a set of steps from his deck to the garden 2 m below. He knows that a comfortable
slope for steps is about 0.6. He wants the tread width to be 30 cm.
a. What should the height of each riser be?
b. How many steps will the staircase have? Be sure to give an integer answer and explain the effects
of your choice.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the tread width is 30 cm the height should be 18 cm, for 18/30=0.6
Every 18 cm rise divides into 200 cm total rise
11 steps almost makes it (198 cm). Given that there is only a 2 cm difference for the last step, this would not be unreasonable in the real world. If 0.6 were the absolute maximum slope the 12 steps would work.
