Question 1072492: Residential customers who heat their home with natural gas have their monthly bills calculated by adding a base service charge R5.19 per month and energy charge R51.91 cents per hundred m^3 write an equation for the monthly charge y in terms of x, the number of hundred of m^3 used

You can put this solution on YOUR website! the currency looks like the south african rand.
there are 100 cents to 1 rand.
this is what i'm assuming when answering this question.
the monthly charge is 5.19 rands per month plus 51.91 cents per cubic meter of gas.
since 1 rand equals 51.91 cents, then 51.91 / 100 is equal to .5191 rands.
the monthly charge is therefore 5.19 rands per month plus .5191 rands per cubic meter of gas.
if you let y equal the monthly charge in rands, and x equals the number of cubic meters of gas used, then the formula becomes:
y = 5.91 + .5191 * x
