Question 1070651: Chris borrowed money from her brother. Each week she pays him $5 toward her debt. After 8 weeks, she has $8 left to pay. This situation is modeled by a line with a slope of -5 that contains the point (8, 8). Which point is also on this line?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two points with clear meaning are y-intercept and x-intercept.

y, how much is owed
x, count of weeks past since borrowing
m, slope -5
b, vertical axis intercept

Those could be for form y=-5x+b, but the point-slope form might be convenient since you are given slope AND a point (8,8).
-
y-8=-5%28x-8%29
y=-5x%2B40%2B8
y=-5x%2B48----------another point on the line is (0,48), meaning that Chris borrowed $48.

The x-intercept is not an integer, nor whole number.
5x=48
x=48%2F5
x=9%263%2F5--------------upon paying after 9 weeks, Chris still owes $3.

Another point on line: (9, 3), since after 9 weeks, she'll owe $3.
