Question 1047449: In the years 2002 through 2013 the number of bridges on public roads (in thousands) in the United States can be modeled by the liner equation y=4.09x =490, where x is the number of years after 2002 and y is the number of bridges (in thousands). Find the following.
A, Find the y intercept of the line.
B Write a sentence explaining the meaning of the intercept.
C. Find the slope of the line.
D. Write A sentence explaining the meaning of the slope as a rate of change.
I have taken several stabs at this and my textbook just does not help, please help me understand a working set up for this problem.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In the years 2002 through 2013 the number of bridges on public roads (in thousands) in the United States can be modeled by the liner equation y=4.09x + 490 where x is the number of years after 2002 and y is the number of bridges (in thousands). Find the following.
A, Find the y intercept of the line.
f(0) = 0 + 490
----------------------------------------------
B Write a sentence explaining the meaning of the intercept.
In 2002 there were 490 thousand bridges on public roads
---------------------------
C. Find the slope of the line.
Slope = 4.09
--------------------------
D. Write A sentence explaining the meaning of the slope as a rate of change.
Each year between 2002 and 2013 the number of bridges increased
by 4.09 thousand = 4090
