2y is the same as 2*y (two times y). To undo the multiplication of 2, we divide both sides by 2 to isolate y.

2y=+10x-8

2y%2F2=+%2810x-8%29%2F2 Divide both sides by 2

y+=+%2810x-8%29%2F2

y+=+%2810x%29%2F2-8%2F2

y+=+5x+-+4

y+=+5x+-+4 is in the form y=mx%2Bb where m = 5 is the slope and b = -4 is the y intercept

So the slope is 5 and the y intercept is -4, which means the graph crosses through (0,-4)
