Question 939426: I am a special education teacher new to 5th grade math and need to verify that I am teaching the following correctly (please help!):
If a point is 5 units from the x-axis and 2 units from the y-axis, is the ordered pair going to be (5,2) or (2,5)?
My understanding is that the entire horizontal line is the x-axis and the point (0,0) is the origin, so if a point is a number of units FROM the x-axis, wouldn't you begin at the x-axis and count up? Or, is it beginning at the ORIGIN of the x-axis and counting that many units along the x-axis/horizontal line? THANKS :)

Question 942892: A board that is 12 feet long must be cut into two pieces that have lengths in a ratio of 3 to 2. Find the length of the 2 pieces.
ratio 3:2
3/2 = 12/x answer would be 3x = 24 = x = 8. So the sides would be 8 & 4 but the ratio is 2:1, not 3:2...

Question 946733: How can I can find the length of a segment with Arc Measures?
I am really stumped on this problem, I cant figure it out and it's making me rip my hair out!
It is a circle, it has 2 segments A to B and B to C.
B and C both conjoin/meet at A.
the Length of AB is (2x).
The length of BC is (x+5)
The Arc Measure of A to B is 105 as is B to C (BC is the part that I solved)
The Arc Measure of AC is 150.
How would I solve this using those? I dont understand this.... and my book explains this so poorly that even my tutor can NOT understand what they are saying.
Any help in understanding this would be fantastic.
