You can put this solution on YOUR website! The length of a rectangle is represented by x+1. Its width is represented by x-3. If the area of the retangle is 117 squre centimeters, what are the dimensions of the rectangle?
----------------
(x+1)(x-3)=117
x^2-2x-3=117
x^2-2x-120=0
(x-12)(x+10)=0
Positive answer: x=12 so x+1=13 and x-3=9
-------------------
