Question 794761: Please help me solve this question: Andrea has 4 shelves on the wall of her room. The distance between the shelves is the same as the distance between the floor and the bottom shelf. The distance between the ceiling and the top shelf is
2ft 4in. The ceiling in the room is 9ft high. What is the distance between the shelves?

Thining about this carefully and drawing a picture, you should be able to tell that {distance of floor to cieling}={distance from top shelf to cieling}+{distance from floor to top shelf}.

Shown as values, using L for the distance from floor to top shelf,

Find L.
That all should give you a very strong start. Now, how many equal increments of distance are between the shelves, INCLUDING the floor as an extra shelf? Think! There are FOUR distance increments.
