Let x be the height;  then the base is (x-2)/2 meters.


The area equation is


    %281%2F2%29%2Ax%2A%28%28x-2%29%2F2%29 = 30.


Simplify and solve


    x*(x-2) = 120

    x^2 - 2x - 120 = 0

    (x-12)*(x+10) = 0


Of the two roots,  12  and  -10,  only  x= 12 is positive and makes sense.


ANSWER.  The height is 12 meters.
