Question 1164339: Hi, can you check my answers please? Thank you!
1. The packaging lists a model car’s length as 5.4 cm. It gives the scale factor as 1:72. What is the length of
the actual car?
a. 3.9 m --> my answer
b. 7.5 m
c. 13.3m
d. 5.6 m
2. Find a single translation that has the same effect as each composition of translations. (x, y) → (x + 3, y - 2)
followed by (x, y) → (x - 4, y - 1).
a. (x, y) → (x - 7, y + 1)
b. (x, y) → (x - 1, y - 3)
c. (x, y) → (x + 1, y - 5) --> my answer
d. (x, y ) → (x + 1, y - 1)
3. You are given the following coordinates.A(3, 7), B( - 2, 1), C(2, 0) and D(5, - 6).
Find the coordinates of the image after a reflection across x = 3.
a. A’(3, 7), B’( - 8, 1), C’(4, 0), D’(1, 6)
b. A’(3, 7), B’(8, 1), C’(4, 0), D’(1, - 6)
c. A’(3, - 1), B’( - 2, 5), C’(2, 6), D’(5, 12) --> my answer
d. A’(7, 3), B’( - 8, 1), C’(0, 4), D’( - 1, - 6)

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1. The packaging lists a model car’s length as 5.4 cm. It gives the scale factor as 1:72. What is the length of
the actual car?

5.4 * 72 / 100 = 3.888 = 3.9 looks good.

2. Find a single translation that has the same effect as each composition of translations. (x, y) → (x + 3, y - 2)
followed by (x, y) → (x - 4, y - 1).

you go from x to x + 3 to x + 3 - 4 should wind you up with x - 1
you go from y to y - 2 to y - 2 - 1 should wind you up with y - 3
i think answer should be selection b.

assuming you were at (0,0)
(0+3,0-2) will get you to (3,-2)
(3-4,-2-1) will get you to (-1,-3)

3. You are given the following coordinates.A(3, 7), B( - 2, 1), C(2, 0) and D(5, - 6).
Find the coordinates of the image after a reflection across x = 3.

i believe selection b is correct.

(3,7) has x = 3, so it remains the same.
(-2,1) has x = -2 which is 5 below 3, so you need to go 5 above 3 to get to (8,1)
(2,0) has x = 2 which is 1 below 3, so you need to go to 1 abvoe 3 to get to (4,0)
(5,-6) has x = 5 which is 2 above 3, so you need to go to 2 below 3 to get to (1,-6)

all the y coordinates remain the same.
the reflection involves the x coordinate only.

1 is correct.

Hint for 2: -4 + 3 = -1

Hint for 3: The line is x = 3, so point A doesn't move.
