Question 7402: I am really struggling in math and the book is helping alot because it explanes everything with examples and the problem i am trying to do has no example in the book i am hopeing you can help me solve it or will show me a good example.

All other questions have fractions but this one dosent.

I'm doing the review section in my calculus class, but it's been over two years since i took any math...
The problem is to find the inverse of an equation, input a given number and solve. However, the review section on inverse only give simple equations, the ones in the homework are more complex..
find the inverse of:
So I made f(x) into "y" and I exhanged it with x so it now looks like
I start solving for y
This is where I start to get stuck I've factored, but it still leaves a y
or
I've tried to cube root it, but then I still have a y under the radican
I'm stuck..
help please,

Question 11975: To whomever answers this question you will need a pencil and paper to draw this problem out! so that you can see exactly what my circle looks like.
1.draw a small round circle.
2.draw a horozontal dine throuhg the middle.
3.put a dot in the middle of the circle.
4.write 4in. over the dot.
Now your circle looks exactly like mine.
Now here is the question..... Find the circumference of the circle at the right.Now the circle at the right looks like the circle that I just showed you how to draw. And I don't know how to find the circumference of a circle. So can you pleeze help me understand this question? (Oh and the possible answers to this question are .........12.56in, 6.28in, 1,265in, or none of these)

Question 12956: To whomever gets this problem. I know that this is probably in the wrong catagory but I couldn't find the right one. I don't know if you'll know what a function table looks like so here is how you draw the one mine looks like.But first here is the question...Find the misssing number on the function table. And here is how to draw one.
1. Draw a rectangle.
2. Draw a horozontal line going through the rectangle.
3. Draw three lines going up and down to seperate the rectangle into four parts.(In all you should have eight squares.)
4. On the top row you should have X 2 4 5.
5. On the bottom row you should have 2x-3 1 5 ?
Here are the answers to my question.....9, 7, 4, or none of these.

Question 17106: I am trying to solve an inverse operation problem using fractions.
the problem is
8/11-x=2/11
I must show work, but am having a problem solving the correct way. I know the answere is 6/11, but how am I finding that.
I have tried
8/11-x+x=2/11+x
8/11=2/11+x
8/11-2/11=2/11-2/11+x
6/11+x
