Question 490583: When comparing two numbers for the "mid value" such as:
34 x 56/ 34 + 56 =x the problem is self explanatory. But, I am trying to solve the same type of problem with the answer known and one of the numbers an unkown, such as:
34 x X/34 + X = 21.1555
Everything I have tried tells me I don't know how to approach this problem Can you please help?
Thanks,
Quaedan
34 x X/34 + X = 21.1555
Are you sure that it shouldn't have been
34 + 56/34 + 56 = x
instead? I say that because in 34 x 56/34 + 56 = x
the 34's will just cancel out and you'll always get
one-half what the second number is.
If it was supposed to be
34 + X/34 + X =x
34 + X/34 + X = 21.1555
You multiply through by 34 getting
