You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find an equation of the inverse relation.
a. 2x2 + 5y2 = 4
---
Interchange 3x and y:
2y^2 + 5x^2 = 4
Solve for "y":
y^2 = -(5/2)x^2 + 2
---
y = sqrt[(-5/2)x^2+2)] or y = -sqrt[(-5/2)x^2+2]
---------------------------------------
and
b. y = 3x2 – 5x + 9
Interchange x and y:
x = 3y^2 - 5y +9
3y^2 -5y + (9-x)
Solve for "y":
y = [5 +- sqrt(25 - 4*3(9-x))]/2
---
y = [5 + sqrt(25 - 4*3(9-x))]/2 or y = [5 - sqrt(25 - 4*3(9-x))]/2

a. Equation is

2x%5E2+%2B+5y%5E2+=+4
Or, y=sqrt%284-2x%5E2%29%2F5, where, +-sqrt%282%29+%3C=+x+%3C=+sqrt%282%29 and +0+%3C=+y+%3C=+2%2F5%29
Hence, equation of the inverse relation is
x=sqrt%284-2y%5E2%29%2F5, where, +-sqrt%282%29+%3C=+y+%3C=+sqrt%282%29 and +0+%3C=+x+%3C=+2%2F5%29
Or,2y%5E2+%2B+5x%5E2+=+4where, +-sqrt%282%29+%3C=+y+%3C=+sqrt%282%29 and +0+%3C=+x+%3C=+2%2F5%29
b. Equation is
y=3x%5E2-5x%2B9where, +y+%3E0 for any x
Hence, equation of the inverse relation is
x=3y%5E2-5y%2B9where, +x+%3E0 for any y
