How to find the inverse of one-to-one function bellow?

f(x)=3x-5

The graph of that function is like this:

Replace %22f%28x%29%22 by y

y=3x-5

Interchange x and y

x=3y-5

Solve for y

3y-5=x

3y=x%2B5

y=%28x%2B5%29%2F3

Replace y by f%5E%28-1%29%28x%29

f%5E%28-1%29%28x%29=%28x%2B5%29%2F3

Now plot that on the same graph:



Notice that the inverse is the reflection of the
original line in the "identity" line which has equation
y=x, called the identity line.  That's
the green dotted line below:
