To find the inverse of a function, there are TWO steps:

Step 1: Given that y =4x+2, INTERCHANGE the x and y.
x=4y+2

Step 2: SOLVE for y.
x=4y+2
x-2=4y
4y=x-2

Divide both sides by 4:
y=%28x-2%29%2F4 or y=%28x%2F4%29-%281%2F2%29
