If your #1 and #2 are a sequence of two operations
you would form the inverse by the following sequence
of operations.
----
#1 add 31 and then #2 subtract 18
=======================================
If an operation takes three steps a,b,c in that order
the inverse must 1st remove c, then remove b, then remove a.
============================================
If f(x) = 3x+2
then f^-1(x) = (x-2)/3
=============================
