Question 207300: How do I get 3 divided by 2%261%2F4?
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20054) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!

3÷2%261%2F4

Write the 3 as 3%2F1

3%2F1÷2%261%2F4

Change 2%261%2F4 to an improper fraction 9%2F4
and write that instead:

3%2F1÷9%2F4

Now invert 9%2F4 and change ÷ to ×

3%2F1×4%2F9

Divide the 3 on top by 3 and the 9 on the
bottom by 3:

%22%22%5E1cross%283%29%2F1×4%2F%28cross%289%29%29%5B3%5D%29%29

End up with

4%2F3

or as a mixed fraction 1%261%2F3
