The cost for a long distance telephone call is 0.36 cents for the first minute and 0.21 cents for each additional minute or portion thereafer. Write an inequality representing the number of minutes a person could talk without exceeding $3.00
This is what I have so far and I am stuck.
A _<_ 300 cents($3)
This is for the first minute 0.036+B<300
LET x be the number of minutes , each minute will cost 0.21 cents
so the B is 0.21X
0.036 + 0.21X<300.......1
But x I know cannot be a negative so I do not know what to do.
Please advise.
I hope what I wrote makes sense I could not get my equation editor to paste thesign with a line on it.

Question: Solve (x(x-2))/(x+5)>=0
What I have done so far:
Step 1: setting equation to (p(x))/(q(x))>0 is already done so no other steps needed.
Step 2: Set numberator and denominator equal to 0 and solve.
Numerator
(x(x-2)
x=0
Denominator
(x+5)
x= -5
Step 3:
Set boundary numbers
( - infinity, -5) ,(-5,0), (0, + infinity)
Step 4: Test values
Interval (- infininity, -5)
Test Value: -6
(-6(-6-2))/(-6+5) = 48/-1 = negative number
Interval (-5,0)
Test Value: -1
(-1(-1-2))/(-1+5) = 3/4 = positive number
Interval (0, + inifinity)
Test Value: 1
(1(1-2))/(1+5) = -1/6 + negative number
so the answer I got was all numbers in the (-5,0] interval, not including -5, but including 0. Is this right? Please help! Thank you!

"There are only 10 performances playing in New York City that Roy actually wants to see while he is there, but he may not be able to see all of them."
Extra information-
Roy will be staying five days in New York City, and has a total of $1,140. The cost of meals is $30 per meal (represented by m) and the cost of performance tickets is $90 per show (represented by t). Roy eats lunch and dinner the first day and on the remaining four days Roy eats at least one meal each day, but he never eats more than three meanls each day.

Question 49749: I'm stuck. I am supposed to solve for t and the original equation is:
x=vt-(1/2)at^2
Here is what I have done so far.
2x=2vt-at^2
2x=t(2v-at)
t=2x/(2v-at)
But since I am supposed to solve for t how do I get the other t out or am I done?
