Question 93053: I have the following word problem and I don't know where to biggin answering it.
For 1980 through 1998, the population (in thousands) of Hawaii can be modeled by 13.2t+ 965 where t is the number of years since 1980. What was the population of Hawaii in 1998? What was the population increase from 1980 to 1998? I believe i am to make an equation such as: 13.2(14)+965 btu i don't know where to go from there.

Question 93106: Solve the inequality algebraically. Write the solution in interval notation.
|2 - 3x| - 5 is less than 1
I solved it to get the answers x is greater than -4/3 and x is less than -2/3 but I don't know what interval notation is or if the answers are correct. Thanks so much!!

Question 93160: 1) Describe the three possible relationships for two straight lines in the same plane.
2) What is the solution to a system of two equations represented by two parallel lines in the same plane?
3) Describe the steps needed to determine the graph for the solutions to a linear inequality in two variables. What points in the coordinate plane (shaded area) will be selected and why?
4) In a Linear Programming problem you need to maximize a function that contains two variables (such as a and b). Explain what is meant by the constraints for this problem.

Question 93146: I asked another question and forgot to ask this one...Oops sorry.
Graph the inequality y >= -4 Do I graph with a dotted or dashed line because it is true or do I use a solid line. I used the dashed line but am afraid that is wrong. Thanks for your help.

Question 93860: Good Evening Tutors,
I was wondering if you could show me how to graph this inequality.
y >= 3x
I got 1 > 3 (false) so I shaded below the line not including the 1 but I am not sure I have this correct. Any help would be greatly accepted.
Thank you.

Question 95133: I am very sorry this is not from a text book. I am working on compound inequalities: 3y+5>_2y+1>y-1
(that's the best I could come up with for 'greater than or equal to')
I subtracted the 1 in the middle from both sides and got
3y+4>_2y>y-2
Then I subtracted the y on the right side from both sides and got
2y+4>_y>-2
And now I am stuck, it is my understanding that the variable must be isolated in between the inequality signs, but I don't know how to do that from here. Please help me.
