Use these two values to divide the number line into three segments. Select a value from each segment that is NOT an endpoint of a segment. Test the inequality using each of the three values. The solution set of the inequality will be the interval (or union of intervals) identified by the test values that create a true statement when substituted into the original inequality. Since the relational operator includes "equal to", be sure to include any finite endpoints in your solution set interval.
