-9x+7=25+2(5-x);x=-4.
Let x=-4 and see if both sides of the equation equal. If they do then it's a solution, if not it's not:
-9(-4)+7=25+2(5-(-4))?
36+7=25+2(5+4)?
36+7=25+2(9)
43=25+18
43=43!!!
