Question 409786: Here is the word problem I am struggling to solve.
You must average at least an 85 in math to play a sport. Your grades so far are 84, 70, 98. What must you make on your next test to average at least an 85? Write an inequality.
I am stuck. I tried 85> 252 + x /4 and also came up with 84 + x /2>85.
Not sure where to go from here.

your first inequality is sort of close ... if you add parentheses and reverse the inequality

(84 + 70 + 98 + x) / 4 ≥ 85

252 + x ≥ 340
