Question 404880: In December 1998, The Singapore Buddhist Lodge donated $ 15000 and 50 bursaries worth between $ 250 and $ 350 each to Jamiyah, the Moslem Missionary Society of Singapore. What is the maximum and minimum possible amount that the Lodge donated?
:) =)

The different amounts of donation is due to the varying value of the bursaries.
To find the minimum amount that the Lodge donated, assume that the bursaries are worth the least possible, or $250 each.
$15,000+50(250) $15,000 plus the value of the bursaries
$15,000+$12,500
$27,500

To find the maximum amount that the Lodge donated, assume that the bursaries are worth the most possible, or $350 each.
$15,000+$50(350) $15,000 plus the value of the bursaries
$15,000+$17,500
$32,500

Thus the Lodge could have donated a minimum of $27,500 and a maximum of $32,500 :)
