2(x+3)>20 or 2x+6>20 2x>20-6 or 2x>14 or x>14/2 or x>6

We wish to isolate x by "undoing" that which is being done to it...so from
2(x + 3) > 20
divide by 2 and get
x + 3 > 10
and subtract 3
x > 7
and we're done.
