You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x-7<2x+1
----------
The object is to solve for x, meaning to get x on the left side by itself.
3x-7<2x+1
Add 7
3x<2x+8
Subtract 2x
x<8
x is less than 8
----------------------
That's all. It's the same as if the < were an equal sign (in this case).

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x+-+7+%3C+2x+%2B+1
Add 7 to both sides
3x+%3C+2x+%2B+8
Subtract 2x from both sides
x+%3C+8 answer
You can test this by plugging in 7.99 and then 8 into the inequality
3%2A7.99+-+7+%3C+2%2A7.99+%2B+1
23.97+-+7+%3C+15.98+%2B+1
16.97+%3C+16.98 true
and then
3%2A8+-+7+%3C+2%2A8+%2B+1
24+-+7+%3C+16+%2B+1
17+%3C+17
This is not true, so
x+%3C+8 looks correct
