Question 949214: i need to write an equation for the word problem:
To estimate the number of people in Springfield, population 10,000, who have a swimming pool in their backyard, 250 people were interviewed. Of those polled, 89 had a swimming pool. How many people in the city might one expect to have a swimming pool? (Round to the nearest whole number, if necessary.)

Question 953812: A person's job us to inspect hand-painted glassware before pieces are packed for shipping. At the start of the work shift, there are 18 glass ready for inspection. The person can inspect 6 glasses every hour. If throughout work day, 4 additional classes become ready for inspection each hour, create an equestion that represents the number of glasses (g) that are waiting for inspection after h hours of the person's shift?
I came up with g=18+4h/6h but answer is g=2(9-h).
How is that the answer?
I am studying for my teaching license and struggling with math. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Question 958945: Given rt cone height (h) of 12 and radius (r) of 6 find formula for volume in cone as a function of height. v(h). Volume is 144pi therefore v(h) should be 144pi minus 1/3pi(6-r)squared times (12-h).
Having trouble with the algebra working out. Answer is pi/12 times h cubed but cant seem to get there.
