given:
The larger of two numbers is 5 less than 8 times the smaller,
so we have x%2B5=8y.....1
their sum is 94, so x%2By=94....2
solve the system:
x%2B5=8y.....1
x%2By=94....2

x%2B5=8y.....1.. solve for x
x=8y-5....substitute in 2

8y-5%2By=94....2. solve for y
9y=94%2B5
9y=99
y=99%2F9

now find x
