Let the more expensive stock be worth E/share
Then the less expensive stock is worth (E – 4)/share
Also, 13E + 27(E – 4) = 1,412
13E + 27E – 108 = 1,412
40E = 1,412 + 108
40E = 1,520
E, or more expensive stock is worth , or $ /share
======
Check
======
13(38) + 27(38 - 4) = 1,412
13(38) + 27(34) = 1,412
494 + 918 = 1,412
1,412 = 1,412 (TRUE)
