If I can do a job in 4 h and we can do the same job in 2 h, how long can you do the job alone?
Since you can do the job in 4 hours, you can do half the job in 2 hours.

Therefore during that 2 hours when we did the job together, you did

half of it and I did the other half.  Therefore we work at the same

rate, so I can also do the job in 4 hours.

Answer: 4 hours.
