You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how old is my youngest son if the sum of triple his age and five times his older brother's age is 96
:
Let y = youngest son's age
Let x = older son's age
:
5x + 3y = 96
3y = -5x + 96
divide by 3
y = -5%2F3x + 96%2F3
y = -5%2F3x + 32
we know that x has to be a multiple of 3, a couple "try and see"'s, we come up with x=15
y = -5%2F3(15) + 32
y = -25 + 32
y = 7 yrs is the youngest son's age

Check: 3(7) + 5(15) = 96
