(2/3)x=180

2x=540

x=270

Original price = $270

1/3 off is the sames as paying 2/3 of the original price
Let P be the original price
%282%2F3%29%2AP+=+%24180
P+=+%283%2F2%29%2A%24180
P = $270
check your answer using the "1/3 off" if you like
1/3 off would mean getting $90 off.
$270 - $90 = $180
