Question 213503: In isosceles trapezoid ABCD, the longer base, AB, is one and one half times as long as the short base, CD. The other two sides, AD and BC, are both 13 cm long.
A. If the perimeter is 76 cm, find the lengths of AB and CD.
this is what i did:
AD = 13
BC = 13
CD = x
AB = x* 1 1/2
the equation i got : 13+13+x+1 1/2*x=76
but when i follow through with the equation i can't get 76,
help please, i have no idea what i'm doing wrong.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Note: the mixed fraction 1%261%2F2 is equivalent to the improper fraction 3%2F2. Ie. 1%261%2F2=3%2F2.

So the equation becomes 13%2B13%2Bx%2B%283%2F2%29x=76

If you multiply EVERY term by the LCD 2, you'll clear out the fractions to get 26%2B26%2B2x%2Bx=152. Now you have a much simpler equation to solve. I'll let you do that.
