You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the total cost of apples is b cents, what is a general formula for the cost, in cents, of y apples?
a. b/xy
b. x/by
c. xy/b
d. by/x
e. bx/y
The answer is “D”, but we don’t know why...
---------------------------------
The "x" is missing from your posting.
It probably says "the total cost of x apples is b cents".
-------------
If so, each apple costs b/x cents
So y apples costs y(b/x) = by/x cents.
