The length of a rectangle is 8m more than twice the width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 352m, find the dimensions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let W be the the width, in meters.
Then the length is (2W+8), according to the condition.
For the perimeter you have this equation
W + (2W+8) + W + (2W+8) = 352, or
6W + 16 = 352, or
6W = 362 - 16,
6W = 336,
W = = 56 m.
The length of a rectangle is 2W+8 = 2*56+8 = 120 m.
Answer. The dimensions of the rectangle are 56 m and 120 m.
