Question 150225: Could someone help me with this problem? I know how to graph, but when the function deals with fractions I get a bit confused. I have indicated the answers and want to know if my answers are correct. I would appreciate help to see if I solved the problem correctly.
The problem states:
Find the vertex, the line of symmetry, and the maximum or minimum value of f(x). Graph the function.
f(x)=1/2(x+6)^2+4
The vertex is: (-6,4)
The line of symmetry is x= -6
What is the maximum/minimum value of f(x)? 4
Is the value, f(-6)=4, a maximum or minimum? Maximum
Note: The 1/2 means one half, not 1 divided by 2, just to clarify the problem.
Did I solve this problem correctly? Thank you for your help.
