Question 1029598: problem solving question
the depth of water d meters, at a port entrance is given by the function
d(t) = 4.5 + 1.5 sin pi t/12
where t is hours
a certain ship needs the depth at the port entrance to be more than 5 meters. The ship can be loaded and unloaded in and out of the port in 9 hours. assuming the the ship enters the port just as the depth at the entrance passes 5 meters, will the ship be able to exit 9 hours later? How long will it have to spare? or by how many minutes will it miss out?

and can you please show me working out and how you got the answer.
Thankyou

Question 1029642: A bouncy ball is thrown vertically upward from the ground, after 2 seconds it attains max height of 120 feet, and after 4 seconds it hits the ground.
On a graph I have my vertex as (2, 120).
I am trying to find the quadratic equation to represent the path of the ball. t is time of ball in air and s is height of ball at time t.
I have figured out the equation to be -16t^2+96t=s, then I plug in to the equation t= (-b ± √(b^2-4 (a)(c) ))/2a
My answers are sorta making sense in relation to my graph, but we are asked to give height of ball at 4 seconds & 6 seconds. If ball was already on ground at 4 seconds, why are they asking at 6 too? Not positive I am on the right track.
Thank you!

Determine the velocity of the car after 10.4 seconds and interpret the meaning of the slope and y-intercept in this context.

Question 1030431: Hello, I have a confusing question that I have been trying really hard to understand. You see, its a table. It goes like this:
School Year /x /Cost /Increase
2000-2001 / 0 /$10,820/ ?
2001-2002 / 1 / $11,380/ ?
I'm having trouble finding the increase in tuition. The problem goes "Calculate the increase over the previous year for each school year and put the value in the table. Then it asks to write an equation. I've tried doing y=mx+b or adding the first set of years, multiplying by 0 and adding the cost to find increase. But I doubt that I did it correctly
Your help would be greatly appreciated and I'd be so grateful to have an understanding of the math! Thank you so much!
