Question 926530: Good Afternoon,
I'm trying to solve this problem. Please help me understand it.
The diagram shows a marathon runner's speed at several outdoor temperatures.
75 F 16.7 ft/sec
70 F 17.0 ft/sec
65 F 17.3 ft/sec
60 F 17.6 ft/sec
a. Write an equation in point-slope form that relates running speed (in feet per second) to temperature (in degrees Fahrenheit)
b. Estimate the runner's speed when the temperature is 80 F.
I was trying to get the answer showing below:
(75,16.7)
(70,17)
m=17-16.7/70-75=-0.3/5
y-16.7= -0.3/5(x-75)
But honestly I don't really get it.
Please help me with this problem.
Thank you in advance,
Andrea
