Question 50314: Chapter 1 Systems of linear Equations
-Solve each of the linear systems of equations graphically. use a mini table of values to draw the graph of the lines.
x+y=2
3x=2y=9
so how would you graph both of these on one graph? and would you use the equation

Question 50458: I tried the following problem and came up with a different answer than the textbook.
x^2+4x+4>9
x^2+4x-5>0
(x+5)(x-1)>0
x+5>0, x-1>0
x>-5, x>1
The book has the answer to be x<-5 and x>1. I checked my work a few times and I still can't find what I did wrong. Please help me find my error. Thank you in advance.

Question 50500: Ok, is there another way to solve the values for x and y instead of just inserting a zero into each to get the value of the other?
2y = x - 8
If I divide each side by 2, should I get y = 1/2x - 8 or y = x - 4??
Where am I going wrong?

Question 50594: Graph inequalities on a number line:
|3x+5|>-11
This is what I did:
3x+5<11 3x+5>-11
3x+5-5<11-5 3x+5-5>-11-5
3/3x<6/3 3/3x>-16/3
x<2 x>-16/3 or -5 1/3
Then I placed a hollow point on -5 1/3 and a hollow point on 2 and shaded the line in between. Am I correct, or just way off?

Question 50584: In most businesses, increasing prices of their product can have a negative effect on the number of customers of the business. A bus company in a small town has an average a number of riders of 1,000 per day. The bus company charges $2.00 for a ride. They conducted a survey of their customers and found that they will lose approximately 50 customers per day for each $.25 increase in fare. Given the description above, graph the function, identify the graph of the function (line, parabola, hyperbola, or exponential), explain your choice, and give the domain and range as shown in the graph you have drawn, and also the domain and range of the entire function excluding unrealistic values. The vertical axis is the number of riders per day and the horizontal axis is the fare.

Question 50740: Hello,
I was wondering how you write the equation of a line that is drawn on a graph. I think you would use y=mx+b, but I am not sure how you would plug the numbers in. The problem just shows a graph with a diagonal line and the y intercept is 0,2. The x intercept is 2,0. I know this question may sound confusing because I can't draw the graph but if you could help that would be great!
Thanks
