A bookstore manager plans to spend $60 on pens at 30 cents each and pencils at 10 cents each. The equation 0.10x + 0.30y = 60 can be used to represent the model in this situation.
a.) What do x and y represent?
b.) graph the equation
c.) write the equation in slope - intercept form.
d.) what is the slope of the line?
e.) what does the slope tell you?
What I have so far is:
0.10x + 0.30y = 60
0.30y = -0.10x + 60
I don't exactly know where to go from here because it hasn't been expalined very well in my class.

the only one that makes sense to me is D
so that when x=0, y=-2 which is point given on the line.

Question 47561: Looking at the Line L, the slope is ______ and the value of y when x=4 is____
The points on my sample graph for Line L are (-1,0) (0,2). Knowing this, I found the slope to be 2 but I don't get how to find the value of y when they give you what x is.

Question 47548: I am trying to graph
8x + 7y < -56 (that should be a greater than or equal to sign)
I came up with y= -8/7x - 8
Which means the rise is -8 and the then run is +7 and my y intercept is -8
Is this correct? I am graphing system of inequalities and my first equation was x^2 + y^2 < 64 (that also is a greater than or equal to sign)
That equation gave me a solid line with a radius of 8. Do these two equations intersect at the y axis of -8?
