Question 950253: The graph of the function g is formed by applying the transformation listed below, in the given order, to the function f(x)=sqrt(x). Find an equation for the function g, and sketch the graph of g.
- Shift to the right by 3 units
- Vertical stretch by 2 units
- Reflection with respect to the x-axis
My answer:
f(x)=sqrt(x)
shift right 3 units gives
g(x)=sqrt(x-3)
Vertical Stretch by 2 units gives
g(x)=2sqrt(x-3)
Reflection at the x-axis
g(x)=-2sqrt(x-3)
Sketch g(x)=-2sqrt(x-3)
Is this correct? Is there a different way of finding an equation? Thanks in advance.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
f(x)=sqrt(x)
g(x)=sqrt(x-3) ---------:shift right 3 units gives
g(x)=2sqrt(x-3) ---------:Vertical Stretch by 2 units gives
g(x)=-2sqrt(x-3) -------: Reflection at the x-axis
Sketch g(x)=-2sqrt(x-3)
You are absolutely right. Fantastic job!!
