Question 94293: Can you please show me how to solve this: Using the given information, write the equation(ax+by+c=0)of the line then graph the line.
Passes through the points (-3,4)and(6,1)
I tried to solve it with the equation%28y-y1%29%2F%28y2-y1%29=%28x-x1%29%2F%28x2-x1%29I plugged in the numbers and tried to solve but I got the equation %28-1%2F6%29x-y+%2B%285%2F2%29and that didnt go through the points so could you help me and see if im on the right track

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1st find the slope (m) of the line.
m=%28y-y%5B1%5D%29%2F%28x-x%5B1%5D%29=%284-1%29%2F%28-3-6%29=3%2F-9=-1%2F3
Now we rearange the slope formula to give us the point-slope form of the equation of a line.
m%28x-x%5B1%5D%29=y-y%5B1%5D
Now we plug either of the sets of points into the above.
%28-1%2F3%29%28x-%28-3%29%29=y-4
%28-1%2F3%29%28x%2B3%29=y-4
%28-x%2F3%29-1=y-4
Add 4 to each side. %28-x%2F3%29%2B3=y
