y = (1/4)x^2 - 2x -1

Find the vertex at x = -b/(2a) = 2/(2(1/4)) = 4
Then f(4) = (1/4)(4^2) - 2*4 -1 = 4-8-1 = -5----
Plot the point (4,-5)
That is the minimum point of the graph since (1/4) is positive.
