Question 851431: Solve each system by graphing .
Y=-x+1
Y=-4x-2
Middle school algebra .
On the second equation i divided everything by two so the equation equaled y=-2x-1
This is ONE problem and I have to graph them and write wether they're no solution , one solution , and many infinite solutions ,

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Solve each system by graphing .
Y = -x + 1
Y= -4x - 2
:
If you wish to simplify by dividing by 2, you must divide y by 2 also, but in this case you would not do it. You want y to have a coefficient of 1
Just choose a least two values for x and find y for each equation. Plot these coordinates
:
Using x = 0 is easy, gives you the y intercept, let x = 2 and find y
y = -x + 1
y = 0 + 1
y = 1
x=2
y = -2 + 1
y = -1
Two pairs, 0,1; 2,-1
and
y = -4x - 2
y = -4(0) - 2
y = -2
x=2
y = -4(2) -2
y = -10
Two pairs, 0,-2; 2,-10
Should look like this

they do intersect so there is one solution; -1,2
