Table: Write a T with a long tail on your paper. At the top of the T on the left, write x. On the top of the T on the right, write f(x).
Pick a value for x. It can be anything you like but small integers make the arithmetic simpler and make you less prone to error. Write that value in the lower part of your T on the left.
Substitute the value of x from the previous step every place you see x in the definition of f(x). Do the arithmetic to find the value for f(x) at that value. Write this number in the f(x) column of your T in the same row as the x value.
Repeat the above two steps as many times as you have been instructed, but in any case at least once more.
For each row in the T chart, there are two values, one for x and another for f(x). Create an ordered pair for each pair of values in your table.
Plot a point on a set of coordinate axes for each ordered pair created in the previous step; all points to be plotted on the same set of axes.
Draw a straight line through the plotted points.
