You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Find the slope and y-intercept.
3x + 8y = 72

Rule:

Solve the equation for y, so that you have the form

                      y = mx + b

Then m, the coefficient of x is the slope, and b, the other
number is the y-coordinate of the y-intercept. The x coordinate
of the y-intercept is 0, so the y-intercept is the point (0,b)

                3x+%2B+8y+=+72
                     8y+=+-3x+%2B+72
                 %288y%29%2F8+=+%28-3x%29%2F8+%2B+72%2F8
                      y+=+%28-3%2F8%29x+%2B+9

Compare that with     y+=+mx%2Bb

and you see that the slope m = -3%2F8 and the y-coordinate of
the y-intercept,b, is 9, and so the y-intercept is the point (0,9).
